| • | You would like to have more energy and stamina on a day to day basis |
| • | You have stiff joints or perhaps some arthritis |
| • | You would like to exercise with like-minded people in a sociable group |
| • | You would like to feel a bit stronger and have more energy - allowing you to do more of things you want to do (gardening, dancing, golf, playing with the grandchildren) |
What kinds of people join the Strong Foundations courses?
| • | Current class members walk their dogs every day, cycle to the shops, play golf and tennis or are regular Scottish Country dancers. |
| • | Others sometimes walk with a stick outdoors for security (however can walk some considerable distance and could not be described as frail). |
| • | Some members have had knee or hip replacements, and find that the exercises help them to regain strength (please complete all relevant rehabilitation after your operation, and check with your doctor before joining a course). |
| • | Some members have back pain or other joint pain, often caused by arthritis, and know that by strengthening and mobilising their joints, they can reduce pain and improve their wellbeing. |
| • | Our members are all keen to increase their strength and have more energy, so that they can carry on doing all the activities they enjoy, more comfortably and with less aches and pains. |
| • | Participants find that the strength and balance activities translate well into their other activities, eg. the Scottish Country dancer has less pain in her knees and feels that her legs are much stronger when she is dancing. |
