You want to stay active for longer. You know that exercising will help you to keep fit and remain healthy. However, it can be difficult to know what to do and how hard you should be working.

You may have some aches and pains, perhaps some health challenges (arthritis, high blood pressure) or have had a recent procedure (a new hip or knee). You know you need to do something, but you don’t want to do anything that will cause damage or injury.

“I don’t know where my arthritis has gone” – 74-year-old Scottish Country Dancing grandmother

When I caught up with Rosalind, she was rushing off to a lecture on how the universe began!

Fortunately, I had just enough time to get an insight into how this ex-teacher, writer, and grandmother stays active and keeps her arthritis at bay. Rosalind is a Scottish Country Dancing enthusiast who lives in London with two cats, without a TV, and near her four grandchildren.

Why I keep walking out of exercise classes

There was a spin class where I couldn’t take the shouting.

Another time, the music was too loud (my hearing isn’t great but I am sensitive to loud noise).

Then a yoga class where the instructor didn’t want to believe my answers to his health questions. He basically accused me of lying to him. Then he proceeded to poke the participants with a wooden stick if he didn’t like their posture.

Where did I put my keys?

Keys

I put my keys somewhere safe. I know I did.

I was having a new desk delivered and the front door was open for a few minutes. I moved my keys away from the door to keep them safe.

Safe from me, it seemed, as I was still looking for them half an hour later…
