Balloon Breathing

If you are feeling stressed , anxious or like you just can't calm your mind, this will help you.

You can do this simple breathing exercise in less than a minute. It doesn't sound like it's long enough but try it and see how you feel. You'll be surprised how quickly it works.

Do this breathing exercise sitting down if you can (or lie down if you want!).

If you wish you can close your eyes, or just relax your gaze.

Doing exercises like this helps your brain to calm and relax. You'll notice you feel better after just a few breaths. Once you have learnt this technique you can use it anytime you need to calm your mind or relax. It may help you to go to sleep if you find your mind racing in bed.

Did you know that reducing stress is good for your brain?

One of the best things you can do for your brain health is to find ways to reduce stress in your life and to deal better with stressful situations. When we're stressed it affects our memory and makes it harder for our brains to operate at full capacity. Doing activities that calm our minds and help us feel less anxious or stressed is good for our brain health both today and further down the line. You will feel more alert and focused today, and you will reduce your risk of cognitive decline in the long term as well.
